Getting the Usage Story Straight
As a design lead for Tanzu Observability, I used the End-to-end story process on a product feature called the Usage Portal to align product team and to make sure that the entire customer experience was considered in our solution — from the initial learning about it to using it at scale.
Changing Our Minds on Accessibility
As designers, we all know intellectually that accessibility is the right thing to do, but it is not always easy to get it prioritized by engineering, or even to prioritize it ourselves because it can feel like something extra. As the design manager for Tanzu Observability, I worked with my team to improve our design process so that we considered accessibility earlier in the product development lifecycle. By changing our process we were able to change our mindset toward accessibility.
Improving Consistency and Collaboration
Designers on VMware Tanzu Observability faced challenges in maintaining consistency with the company’s in-house design system. As a design manager, I led the team in the creation of a product-specific design library. This effort helped us improve consistency within the product and across the portfolio and also helped us become better collaborators within our team and with our engineering partners.
